The Nursing Assistant program focuses on teaching the necessary knowledge and skills needed for the entry-level Nurse Assistant. The program presents basic principles and procedures of patient care. Students will be taught the proper way to move patients and the basics of personal care, feeding, bathing and other skills necessary to provide quality health care to patients in hospitals, residents in long term care facilities, and clients in their homes. It includes practice and demonstration of skills in the laboratory and participation in clinical experience at health care agencies. The Home-Health Aide course provides theoretical and clinical experiences required of a Certified Nursing Assistant to become a Certified Home-Health Aide. A variety of learning experiences will be used to accomplish objectives including classroom lectures, discussions, written assignments, and simulated labs.
