Medical Office Administration Program

About the program
This program prepares individuals to perform administrative tasks in a medical office, such as completing and maintaining medical records, welcoming patients and determining the specific nature of their medical needs, and billing and coding. Students also learn how to perform general office functions such as answering the phone, scheduling, and carrying out other clerical duties as needed.

The objective of this program is to prepare students to perform the administrative tasks necessary to operate a health care facility efficiently. Graduates will be able to apply for entry-level positions in various health care settings. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
  • Apply their skills, knowledge and capabilities in the medical office practice
  • Prepare, organize and monitor complete and accurate medical records and other documentation
  • Provide utmost customer service to all clients including patients and all professionals involved in the care of patients
  • Provide competent support to the doctor/nurse in managing the office or medical unit
  • Communicate and work effectively with other health care professionals as a team to provide optimum health care to patients, families or significant other
  • Function within the legal guidelines and ethical framework of their practice
  • Commit themselves to serve the needs of others regardless of their ethnicity, gender, age and social status

What happens after I graduate?


MPI's student support services assists students with their job search after they graduate. Graduates also have the unique opportunity to work with Medical Professional Staffing (MPS) to be placed in a job in their medical field. Graduates will be prepared both to work in a health care setting at an entry level, and to sit for national certification examinations in phlebotomy.
